Thoughts About Hugo

These just want to be a stream of thoughts regard using Hugo for personal blog posting website.

Hugo is

one of the most popular open-source static site generators

means that it is first of all binary code.

More specific, this binary code can run on different desktop Operative Systems (such as Linux, Microsoft Windows or Apple MacOS).

In my case, Hugo runs on my Debian distro under the Linux kernel, installed on a remote Virtual Private Server (vps) to which I have access through Secure SHell (ssh).

The aim of Hugo’s binary code (that is a sophisticated group of instructions for electronical calculators) is to let the “author” first set the structure of his web content, then just ask to him the single new content itself which must be published. After some milliseconds, Hugo builds the structure for the content(s) and put it inside.

So, in simple terms, Hugo automate lots of recurring tasks that need to be done to publish content online using web browser technologies (HTML and CSS parser and renderer and optional JavaScript engine, all of them above a standard Browser Engine).

By using Hugo a person who wants to publish a new content on his web page, just need to write a mark down file (.md) and then run few simple commands on his terminal.

The power of Hugo is not on helping that single operation, but in managing all the static content web site in a dynamical way, even when it increase as time goes by.

So…

Hugo is for maintaing simplicity…

Whith his complexity.
